Nutritional Deficiencies

Our bodies are miraculous in so many ways- ways that we cannot even begin to fully understand. Did you know there's a way to tell if you're lacking a particular vital mineral or vitamin from your diet? Our bodies sometimes let us know about a nutritional deficiency by giving us physical cues that we've got to become aware of so that we can pay attention and recognize what our bodies are trying to tell us. 
Our fingernails are one of the areas of the body that shows a lot of differentiation of a nutritional deficiency is present. For instance, if you often have white spots on your nails it can be a strong indicator that you're zinc deficient. Same for ridges in your nails. However, if your fingernails are soft or brittle it's a sign of a magnesium deficiency. 
If you've often got cold hands, you should be checked for a magnesium deficiency but constant cold hands are also a sign of hyperthyroidism. If you're getting the recommended 8 hours of sleep each night, and yet constantly have bags under your eyes it could be a sign of something else! Both allergies and food intolerance cause blood to pool underneath your eyes, giving you constant dark circles. 

So next time you notice something different or changed with your body, pay attention! It just could be trying to tell you something.
