Prevent Chipped Nails

If you're going to fork over the money for a mani, chances are you'd love it to last! Here are a few tips and tricks to avoiding a chipped nail after your next manicure.
-Prep your nails: Remove old polish, clean them, and buff them out a bit.
-Wash your hands: Any excess oil from your hands and fingers will prevent the polish from adhering perfectly.
-Always, a base coat: Many of us feel this is an optional step- it's not though, if you want a great mani. A base coat prevents polish from staining and also coats your nails better than a colored polish.
-Respect the dry time: We know, we know. Sitting there while your nails dry is about as exciting as watching water evaporate. We get it, we really do. But respect the dry time, and your mani will be encouraged to stick around.
-Apply a top coat: This is especially important if you've painted your nails a darker color. Ask you manicurist which brands they love best if you're looking for a good recomendation.
-Dip them in cold water: Sounds funny, but it really works! Post-manicure, dip your pretty little finger tips into a bowl of ice cold water. The cold seals the polish to your finger for a long lasting mani.

-Re-apply the top coat: Re-apply the top coat every other day to keep the manicure covered, protected, and ready to hang around longer.
