All-about ingrown hairs

Ouch! Ingrown hairs hurt! Both physically and emotionally, since they can be quite embarrassing too. Ingrown hairs are caused by skin irritation, generally in direct relation to shaving. The sharp tips of the hair curl back and grow into the skin of the hair follicle. This can happen anywhere- your legs, under arms, and even bikini line. They're painful, and dangerous if left un cared for.
As we've stated, shaving is the most common way that ingrown hairs are caused. Perhaps you can't ditch the razor completely, but there is a way to reduce your chance of getting ingrown hairs. Try changing your blades more often- and keeping that razor REALLY clean. Razors grab onto and hold oils and bacteria from your skin- these can be reapplied the next time you shave, causing irritation.

A build up of dead skin can also propagate the chances that you'll get an ingrown hair. By exfoliating your skin regularly, you can help ensure this isn't your own skins sad fate.
