Using products that are gentle on your skin and body
is important for everyone, but doubly so for pregnant women. The hormonal
changes that come along with pregnancy are enough to wreak havoc on some
women’s skin. Once pregnant, you can’t just treat your acne with over the
counter medication like you could in your teens though.
Slice a lemon and rub it over your face. Let the
oils sit on for 20 minutes before gently rinsing away. The lemon can help
balance the oils on your face, and has a lightening, brightening effect too.
An oatmeal scrub can be a great way to gently
exfoliate and moisturize your skin at home. Simply grind up oatmeal finely and
mix with milk or olive oil. Rub in small circles across your entire face and
neck, and rinse away with warm water.
Honey is a great natural anti-bacterial, anti-acne
treatment. Make a homemade honey mask by applying a thin layer to your face and
neck and letting sit for 10 minutes before rinsing away. You can also use honey
as a spot-treatment for acne-let it sit several hours or overnight for maximum
efficacy.
When using any skincare, beauty, or cleaning
products during pregnancy it’s always best to opt toward a natural option, and
to always ask your doctor if you have any questions or concerns.
